Tom Schmidt

A native Houstonian, Tom Schmidt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/International Politics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an Honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review. Before co-founding Schmidt & Hoffer, Mr. Schmidt practiced at two of Houston’s premier commercial litigation boutique firms—Hicks, Thomas & Lilienstern, L.L.P., and Clements, O’Neill, Pierce, Wilson & Fulkerson, L.L.P.. Mr. Schmidt’s law practice includes general litigation and corporate formation and maintenance. His litigation practice involves shareholder and partnership disputes, contract disputes, oil and gas matters, discrimination litigation, franchise litigation, personal injury, and general commercial litigation. Mr. Schmidt also provides corporate formation and governance advice, and he currently serves as general counsel and a director of several companies.  Texas Monthly Magazine has consistently named Mr. Schmidt a Texas Super Lawyer in the area of Business Litigation since 2004, an honor bestowed on a mere 5% of Texas attorneys.

Stewart Hoffer

Mr. Hoffer earned a B.B.A. in Management from the Business School at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1994, Mr. Hoffer graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with honors and within the top twenty-percent of his law school class. While in law school, Mr. Hoffer served on the Board of Advocates, successfully participated in several mock trial competitions, and also served as a teaching assistant to two business law professors at the University’s Graduate Business School. Following law school, Mr. Hoffer traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas where he spent two years serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Hayden W. Head, Jr., a distinguished United States District Judge for the Southern District of Texas. After his clerkship, Mr. Hoffer moved to Houston and practiced as a successful labor and employment litigation associate in the Houston office of Littler Mendelson, P.C., a nationally-renowned labor and employment defense law firm. Mr. Hoffer later joined the Houston commercial litigation boutique of Hicks Thomas & Lilienstern, LLP. Forming Schmidt & Hoffer LLP in April 2000 with Mr. Schmidt, Mr. Hoffer has continued his innovative and successful practice of law, focusing on the litigation of commercial and business disputes, labor and employment matters, and personal injury law. Mr. Hoffer has served two terms as an appointed member of the Professionalism Committee of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Texas and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Texas Monthly Magazine consistently recognizes Mr. Hoffer as a Texas Super Lawyer in the area of employment litigation.

Kenneth H. Tribuch

Ken Tribuch joined Schmidt & Hoffer LLP as senior associate in February 2005. Mr. Tribuch grew up in Houston and attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelor's of Business Administration with a concentration in finance in 1989.  After spending a year working in the turbulent real estate market, Mr. Tribuch enrolled in the University of Miami School of Law, and was graduated in 1993. He then practiced law in Florida for eleven years in both firm and solo practice where he practiced commercial litigation, complex family litigation and general civil representation before returning home to Texas in late 2004.  Mr. Tribuch is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas . Mr. Tribuch is also admitted to practice in all Florida state courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  Mr. Tribuch is a Texas Mediator Credentialing Association Credentialed Mediator and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.  His current practice involves general civil litigation, concentrated in business and commercial litigation, and employment litigation, as well as corporate transactional services including corporate formation, maintenance, negotiation and documentation.  Mr. Tribuch also has extensive experience in mediation and dispute resolution including internal workplace disputes, outside business-to-business disputes and complex family disputes involving dissolution and related issues. Moreover, Mr. Tribuch has extensive trial experience in both bench and jury trials and has argued and briefed appeals .
