As Texas Super Lawyers For Business Litigation

Houston, Texas – October 3, 2006 – Tom Schmidt and Stewart Hoffer, founding partners of the Houston law firm of Schmidt & Hoffer LLP were each selected by their peers and Texas Monthly magazine as two of the top lawyers in Texas who practice business litigation.  This is the third consecutive year that Tom Schmidt has been selected as a Super Lawyer for business litigation (2004, 2005, and 2006) , while it is the fourth consecutive year that Mr. Hoffer has been selected – having been named a Super Lawyer for every year from 2003 to the present.  The selection process consists of a rigorous nomination procedure in which licensed Texas lawyers submit votes for lawyers in various practice areas.  To eliminate the chance of “backscratch” voting, the rules discount votes from lawyers in the same firm to 1/10th of a vote for a lawyer outside the voting lawyer’s firm.  Those lawyers who were consistently nominated were then subjected to a second review by a “Blue Ribbon” panel of well-known lawyers in the various practice areas, who then chose the “Texas Super Lawyers” from those nominated.  Less than 5% of the licensed Texas Bar earned this distinction.
